Let It Go

Poems, August 29, 2010 at 03h31

this is Your last chance for doubt, so if You have any left:
LET IT GO.

You don’t need doubt where You’re going, You don’t want it.
it will only make You afraid:

to exist beyond just existing,
to do what You want to do and say what You want to say,
to form Your own beliefs and to believe in them.

doubt will make You afraid to fail,
afraid to succeed,
afraid to even try.

so if You have any doubt,
LET IT GO.
all of it, completely!
be lighter without it,
be the light within You,
and shine everywhere You can,
everywhere You want,
and everywhere!

You are free, You are here!

Mighty in the Storm

Poems, July 17, 2010 at 03h37

When once I was so mighty
And stood against the storm
Now the wind blows lightly
And all my roots are torn
I’m weathered, weak, and wilting
And collapse upon the floor
Not mighty, but soon I will be
And brave the storm once more

As inspired years ago, at my most fragile.

The Swallow That Sings

Poems, July 6, 2010 at 08h31

The swallow that sings as the sun is rising
Feels sorrow as the sunlight fades
The days to come are promised to none
So sing for tomorrow today

As inspired by Belize, 2007.

Out of Focus

Poems, June 1, 2010 at 01h01

I am
completely out of focus;
each time I look in the mirror
I have to squint harder and harder
to see myself

one day
I will squint so hard
that I will see myself clearly
and there I will be
my eyes closed

Lists

Poems, May 22, 2010 at 10h22

everything bad that has happened is this:
– the feeling of falling apart from your kiss
– the meaning of mining for diamonds I’d missed
– the lesions from longing for love that would lift
– the reason for rising my heart to a risk
– the chill through a winter of wanting a wish
– the tiny impression I left on your list
of things you demanded, but never could give

The Way He Fell Upon You

Poems, May 10, 2010 at 12h02

The way he fell upon you, a cautious solstice brume
You bloomed towards the warmth and felt ever so often moved;

The way he fell upon you, a distance so distinctly true
You threw your patient arms around a whisper and wielded wounds;

The way he fell upon you, a drastic dance with doom
And still he falls upon you but now he falls right through

What Would You Say?

Poems, April 25, 2010 at 09h10

What would you say if we spoke
To each other between breaths in the night
If we pursued this perfect passion
And I stayed with you until light
If we both awoke together
And we never began the day
If I asked if I could stay again
If I asked, what would you say?

Drifting

Poems, April 11, 2010 at 07h02

on the old wooden bridge
where you and I lived,
thoughts of you passed through my mind;
like wind through the trees,
you, my casual breeze,
neither broke me nor caused me to bind;
but in the mid of October,
the river spilled over
and left none of that rot-wood behind;
so now I must drift
on remains of the bridge
but better this than to drown in the tide

In Silence, In Ashes

Poems, April 5, 2010 at 08h44

Today we fade to the grayness of the sun
The arms that held us up are now uncomfortable and undone
A fire burns us all to life and its ashes we become
So let me now just sip my wine in silence new and none

Whispers

Poems, March 15, 2010 at 12h50

Tonight you and I are shadows
We move through the room unseen
Dressed in each other’s darkness
Delicately adrift in a dream
It sometimes can seem so shallow
To presume that we’re asleep
Waiting, wanting, and waking
Whispers, weaving, and weak
